ah. a post specially for the lovely 5 other gals who accompanied me through the crazy 2 years in 68! think we set a record for the most number of times students could use the toilet during school time. hahaha... how we used to feel so stuffed with sambal rice after swimming lessons, playing silly games to entertain ourselves during breaks like jy's 'doo-ba-doo-ba-doob-doob' game and frisbee! haha.. listening to seekie n zh tinkering on the ivory keys in the ahem, fishtank. watch zy trying to protect her precious white bag from the floor everyday, yes everyday! :P yx n her comb always at hand :P and of course, her fantastic econs knowledge! :) let's meet up soon, pretty please?? given that last outing was erm. 2 mths ago??? haha... withdrawal symptoms :P Posted by Picasa

oh i hate jabs.

i mean, the last time i got one was ermmm.... eons ago. was it sec3? waaait. think i excused myself from that scary hepB jab since i got the booster one... oh no i think my booster 'expired' or sth. oh whatever. which brings me back to my point. I HATE JABS!

sudden vehemance with regards to that evil needle has been brought about as a result of a discussion on the voices' forum.......... that we needa take jabs to go to xiamen! erpps. never thought about it. and if i thought i escaped hepB, now there's hepA! argh. should i, or should i not? nvm, shall go consult ma later.

which brings me to a funny incident today.

mum woke me up at 11 today, wanting to take a drive down to the sch to 'familiarize' herself with the route cos she wants to pick me up after prac later. (yay, no need to go home on my own! :P)
didn't really want to wake up, cos (okok, so i'm a PIG bleah.) i wouldn't mind catching more zzz's seeing how i have developed this problem of not being able to sleep before 1am nowadays. don't ask me why, i have no idea either. limbs made of lead but still a thousand pictures fill my head. irritating. bah.
so anyway i HAD to wake up, changed and brought my matri bklet down to the car (yesh, it FINALLY arrived...) and went along for the ride.
zoom zoom zoom... all was fine until ma discovered we had to go top up petrol. ok...
1st interesting bit:
problem parking the car. always too far away from the petrol stand thing. (in my opinion, that is) but the nice uncle said it was fine so ok, parked it.

2nd:
another uncle came to open the bonnet to discover that (gasp!) ma'd forgotten to switch off the engine after parking the car. we are so fortunate nth happens when u open a car bonnet with a running engine. *phew* sheepishly turned the key and air con stopped. *sobs* hello, stuffy car and stinky petrol :P

3rd: ma was getting ready to go in to the minimart thing, searching in her handbag when suddenly the searching became more frantic and sth that i dun hear her say tt often popped out, to my great surprise.
me: what?
ma: !!!!!!!!!
me: whhaaaaat??
ma: i didn't bring my wallet!
me: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*cue ma looking hopefully at me*
me: i didn't bring mine either! (i mean, who brings their wallets when they go out with their parents and come on, this was supposed to be a joyride!)
*cue even more frantic searching, but to no avail*

so in desperation ma got me to call godpa who fortunately was soon going to be in the area so she went into the mart to 'look around' (more like stall for time) while waiting for the maroonish-red car to appear and save us from more embarrassment :P

so i settled down to reading more about tuition grants and freshmen camps and before i knew it, ma was strolling back to the car with plastic bags (what, with no cash?) and a huuuuuge smile on her face.

me: i thought u didn't bring your wallet?
ma: i used the redemption points and even got a free packet of rice!

wah. thank goodness for things such as membership cards and rewards and redemption points.

then i called godpa again and told him he wouldn't have to come all the way (good thing he hadn't arrived yet) and i bet underneath all the seriousness and concern he was amused, man.

haha... i'll be waiting to hear a ribbing on sunday...

lesson learnt: ALWAYS, always bring your wallet with you. and make sure you've got cash in it!

since i'm in the mood for photo-blogging... anyone remember this game we used to play in pri sch? say.... P5 or P6?? hahaha... everyone had long rubber bands stashed away somewhere so we could conveniently play this while waiting in the hall or during recess or sth. think we had a craze every year! zero point, hopscotch, five stones (oh i miss playing that, we used to play the whole class together at one time! yes, boys included. imagine 40 pple in a circle. man u'd really wanna slap yourself if you lost your turn :P), catching, some scissors-paper-stone-slide-on-the-floor game and rubberband game! oh yes, childhood was fun... :) Posted by Picasa

aha me and the one who had to pay for everything! nice wallace who asked me to ocs social nite! haha. had quite a bit of fun, meeting both new and old faces, watching videos and erm, foxtrot idol haha.. quite cool actually. did u know foxtrot is the name of the comic strip! but it is a nice comic so well yeah. :P only bit of complaint was that we had to wait suuuuper duper long before the thing started la! and to think we were late haha. someone remarked that it was practically like a wedding dinner.. only difference was that everyone was already there.. wondering what we were waiting for. haha. Posted by Picasa

today i did the big PP.

parallel parking, that is.

and well, me living in my tiny little world of slackdom, tv, church and sometimes choir naively thought that this was just gonna be, well, another subject.

oh, how wrong i was.

why did it never occur to me that parallel parking was gonna be like, so hard?!
ok, so maybe i just have super poor hand-eye-foot-brain coordination cos i'm sure some fella out there reading this will be sniggering to him/herself as he/she reads this. 'whaaat, u mean parallel parking is HARD? i did it in one try man!'

-_-" spare me.

firstly, i never thought that i would be doing PP today, just thought today would be a relaxing afternoon, ya know. just cruising around on the white L-plate car and trying to change lanes in time and right turn n u-turn without swerving around too much or stalling my engine halfway. then halfway through we turn back to the circuit and the instructor directs me to this rather large space which i recognized as the parallel parking place. which coincidentally was the same place that i drove past quite a few lessons ago and another instructor of mine was looking on in disbelief as we watched another car try repeatedly to park in vain. riight. i think i just did a repeat episode today. :

secondly, my mind was a complete blank as my instructor related the steps to me. i'm always like that. i'll go, 'uh huh, ok ok ok.' then when it comes to actual practice i'm like 'ermmm... what was that again?' bah. so then i was desperately trying to process all the steps in my puny brain (which definitely shrunk after slacking for so long) and the info was all jumbled up! darn. see pole, full lock left. see mirror, see 1 n mebbe 3/4 poles, 2 rounds right. then look front, see pole again, full lock right. and that's just going INTO the lot. provided i haven't already struck a pole.
it was madness la. after each step my brain was like working overtime to remember what the next step was and the chance was, i usually couldn't rem. and there's no way u can smoke parking la. u strike a pole, u strike a pole. and u'd better hope it doesn't come crashing down cos then it produces this humongous loud CLANG sound and EVERYONE around you knows you've knocked down a pole. extremely embarrassing.

thirdly. my hands seemed to have a mind of their own. like, when i was supposed to go full lock right after turning right they automatically turned the steering wheel full lock left and worse still, my brain processed that it was OK. until 1 or 2 sec later when my instructor went 'no, no! right, not left!' ohmyword. i think i repeated that part like twice or thrice just cos my hands 'automatically' turned left. oooooohhhh. frustrating indeed.

fourthly, (is there such a term anyway?) i think my brain has definitely retarded. i took so long to remember everything properly that i think i stayed in that lot for like, eons just to at least do one or two properly so i could drive to a proper parallel parking lot and do the actual thing. see! that was just practice! think i was quite shocked when my instructor said 'ok, do one more time then we'll go do the actual thing.' oh, so u mean this isn't the actual thing?? right, how blur of me..

so after a mind boggling session of trying to park my car properly (tmr there's another one to properly finish it up cos obviously, i'm not done with PP yet. joy.) i came home and wrote everything down in my terms. only to realise. i still haven't nailed memorising the steps cos i forgot how to move out. do i have to move backward and then forward again after moving forward or just move out? T_T aahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! somebody save me. :(

tried to think on the 'positive side' so i wouldn't totally dread tmr's lesson but i so couldn't convince myself. cos it would probably go something like this:
oh, actually PP aint that bad, it's just a tad more complex that normal parking!
anyway i enjoy a challenge, don't i?? something for me to exercise my mind!
and oh, the intricacies of parallel parking. i get to do half clutch, strain my neck looking forward and backward (cos obviously i'm not as tall as a guy), spin the steering wheel as fast as i possibly can round and round left and right and test how fast i react the moment the car moves!! how fun and exciting!

how utterly useless that was. there's no way i can deceive myself la. i wonder if there's anyone who simply couldn't graduate from driving school just cos they couldn't parallel park. and somehow i'm quite glad that the test date will be 2 or 3 months away cos then i get to practise more. cos from what i learnt today, i think my driving skills are close to zilch. how can it be?? i'm ending soon! oh yes it can be. argh. confidence in driving, is at all time low now. yahoos.

oh this is dumb. getting all depressed cos i can't park and i think my driving sucks. ah wells. let's hope tomorrow's a better day.
everyone hopes for that, don't they?

back from camp!

and i'm downing glasses of water *warm* like nobody's business.
why is it i seem to lose my voice so easily these days!?!? arghhhhhhhh.
was practically croaking away.. and amusing everyone with my croaky/asthmatic/hiccupy sounding-like laughter.
cancelled driving lessons for this entire week except the one on saturday cos well. i'm tired and my voice is practically gone, no point going. especially since i can't stand not talking during lessons. :P

but anyway.
camp was good! made new friends, met God.. saw Him working in an even deeper level than before. He is so amazing! :)
time to get serious... time to stop putting off time with Him... it's TIME.

something i've been learning every day:
praise Him, praise Him, praise Him in EVERYTHING.
it doesn't depend on the circumstance
the strength of my arm or my voice
it doesn't depend on the way i feel
God is unchanging,
i've made up my mind,
and i'm gonna rejoice!
plenty to thank God for.
:)

SHOW ME
There is a place in Your heart
I am longing to find
Won't You show me

There is a place I know
I can run to and hide
Won't You show me

Show me
Show me
Show me Your heart...
